Now I finally have some time to sit down and reflext on the past week. So much has happened… On Thursday night Tonee and I went to the Free to Succeed tour with David Jay. [b]ecker was there as a guest speaker and they both rocked my socks! It was awesome and I learned a lot!

I got home really late that night and didn’t realize that someone was missing. The next morning I noticed that the cat food was untouched. That’s when I realized that Bindi was gone. It was raining like crazy outside, so we could not look for her. She is an indoor cat and has never been outside for more than a minute. She is always trying to get out, but I always caught her in time. I don’t even remember when I left the door open. She must have gotten out on Thursday during the day and I did not hear her cry because I was gone. The rain finally stopped today and I wish someone could watch my kids so I could go and look for her. I have high hopes that I will find her somewhere, hiding from the rain. Or maybe she is looking for her home, and got lost in the housing area. I need to check all the houses that look like ours.
Friday morning was the day of Aeris’ surgery. She has Vesicoureteral Reflux, which also translates into Kidney Reflux. She was diagnosed at age 10 months and has been on daily antibiotics ever since. The surgery was simple and without cutting. She was able to go home right away. During her past Xrays and ultrasounds they told us that she has a grade III on one side. During the surgery they found out that she actually has a grade III on one side and a grade III - IV on the other side. The surgery has a success 80% rate, so hopefully she is fixed now and won’t have to take antibiotics anymore. We will find out in about 4 weeks.
This was taken by one of the nurses while we waited for the doctor

Then on Saturday morning I was browsing the web, looking at local shelters for our Bindi. While surfing I found my way to the Puppy Resque website…. They had tons of St Bernard / Pyrenese Mountain Dog mixes listed. We thought we would go to the adoption event and check them out. The puppies were super young, hardly 8 weeks old. Absolutely adorable of course, but so puppy-ish. They also had a 16 week old Greater Swiss Mountain Dog mix. We met him as well and he was awesome! They didn’t have a lot of history on him, other than that the mom was a mountain dog and he ended up in a shelter. What a cutie! Totally clumsy and playful. We ended up adopting him!!
I named him Beck and he has been a really good boy so far! I think his daddy was either a Shepherd or a Husky. Check out the cuteness:

HAHA, can you see MEEEEEEEE

We went to the Zoo the other day. I didn’t go there in 3 months, so I was one of the last people to find out that one of the Lowland Gorillas died on my birthday. Now how sad is that? Her name was Fern and she was the 4th oldest Gorilla in captivity. She died at the age of 46 because of heart failure. This is the most common cause of death in geriatric gorillas. I am really sad, especially because I am always the last person to find out! I should really start to watch and read the news more often. I am trying to avoid the news lately, since it always makes me cry. I am an emotional wreck. Pitiful lol!
